Calling on all pharmacists and pharmaceutical manufacturers, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday that they should come forward to create medicine and herbal medicine-related industries in the state.
Addressing the conference organized by Indian Pharmacists Association, Chhattisgarh on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Raipur, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is full of herbal remedies with 44 percent of the forest area, different types of medicinal plants are found.
He said that by using the opportunity, individuals or groups, whether from the state or outside, wishing to create the pharmaceutical industry, the government will provide them with all the necessary resources, facilities and exemptions. .
“The raw material would be supplied to the ‘Vanaushadhi’ units to be set up at the rates set by the Federation of State Minor Forest Products Cooperatives. The Ayush and the Ministry of Health can directly buy locally produced drugs without any tendering, ” he added. He also insisted on the promotion of generic drugs.
Appreciating doctors, pharmacists and other medical staff for their exemplary work during the pandemic waves of Covid-19, Health Minister TS Singh Deo said Chhattisgarh was emerging as a “model state” in the country due to innovations and new initiatives. He said the government had started recruiting 187 pharmacists.
The “Pharmacist’s Book” was also published by the Chief Minister and other guests.
